An eye example of why the NHS is invaluable
All sorts of different problems can affect your vision. A patient from overseas came to me with blurring of vision in both her eyes.
She had been told in an eye hospital of country that she came from that she had cataracts (the lenses inside her eye were obscuring the vision). She had been advised to have cataract surgery at considerable cost. Yet examining her in the clinic it was apparent that her vision could be corrected with just a change in her glasses prescription!! - An example where financial conflict of interest exists in countries without an NHS.
